This presentation explores the complex, shared journey of growing older by moving beyond traditional, individual-centric models to examine how contemporary families (e.g., Korean families) navigate later life collectively. By integrating multiple perspectives, the presentation highlights how divergent views among family members—such as aging parents, spouses, adult children, and care proxies—regarding support exchanges, health conditions, and end-of-life preferences impact emotional well-being and caregiving outcomes. Concurrently, it examines multiple relationships through a within-family differences approach and latent profile typologies, demonstrating how middle-aged adults distribute limited resources across multiple adult children and aging parents, and how the overall configuration of these multigenerational ties shapes individual well-being. Synthesizing these perceptual discrepancies and relational dynamics provides a comprehensive framework for understanding family contexts, offering crucial insights for improving family communication, clinical protocols, and support policies for aging families.
